History of Masia Restaurant La Sala

Mas Sala was founded in the 13th century, according to the caretaker of the house: "Fra Geraldo, Abad of Sant Benet de Bages, founded Mas Sala de Sant Ponç of Guillem Sala on January 4, 1283."

Thus, as old as it is, this land has been passed down for centuries and from father to son over many generations. Much time has passed before the genuine nobility of the Sala name has returned to us.

The crest comes from an era older than the farmhouse itself. It originates from gentleman ancestor of Guillem Sala who, with his wife Ricarda, built and founded the Monastery of San Benet de Bages in the year 970. Here they set down an example that was to be followed by his descendents {1}Abbó, Adalbert i Seniofred.

Today, the Restaurant La Sala still conserves the secular structure of the Sala de Sant Ponç. Some of the homemade meals are inheritances from the farmhouse kitchen. The cuisine at the Restaurant La Sala is carefully selected before it is served.

With our town’s classically developed taste and refinement, we continue to satisfy the most diverse and demanding palates. After all, this is a continuation of the most delicious and traditional gastronomy in the region and in Catalonia.
